Beijing Time October 4 Noon news, according to foreign media reports, Intel Data center group Vice president and general manager Skaugen (Kirk Skaugen) said in Thursday, the company is not ready to push the move (Atom) processor to the server market, Although some vendors are using Low-power moving processor development servers. U.S. Low-power Server technology provider Seamicro earlier this month on the "Intel Developer Forum" (IDF), the use of a 512-piece processor assembled from the server, the product with LAN switching, server management and application load balancing functions. Skaugen says the Seamicro server and other Low-power servers that use ARM chips can only be made available to very niche markets. He said: "We are not opposed to the server based on the bullying, we just do not look at it as a server chip widely used." Skaugen says the ARM processor has more disadvantages because it cannot be compatible with software written based on the x86 architecture. He added that users could use the Xeon (Xeon) processor to balance energy efficiency and performance without the use of an atom processor. Intel demonstrated the next generation of Sandy Bridget Microarchitecture on IDF, which has 8 cores, each of which can handle two threads at a time. "So in a dual-socket system, you can handle 32 threads at the same time, which is better than using a 32-piece," Skaugen said. Intel also launched a new processor to the server on the IDF. Intel is also ready to incorporate the security technology acquired by McAfee into the server chip, but Skaugen declined to disclose details. By consolidating Intel's hardware with McAfee's software into the same chip, Intel wants to shift the security focus from organizing and detecting past threats to preventing unknown attacks. Skaugen says the wireless technology acquired by Infineon's wireless services is also expected to be integrated into Intel's server products because it is more in the interests of users. (PEI)
