As of 2014, 30% of midsize enterprises will take a cloud recovery plan, known as the Recovery Service (RECOVERY-AS-A-SERVICE,RAAS), to support IT operations recovery, even though today's maximum usage is just over 1, according to Gartner. %。

In the service provider's virtual machine and product data cloud, Raas is used for replication management, along with the means of activating virtual machines to support recovery testing or actual recovery operations. Location of the data center device, the area of the provider's cloud computing device causes different providers to be priced differently.

Gartner believes that the development of the RAAS market is driven by medium-sized companies, with annual revenues of between 1.5 and 1 billion. Larger companies (earning or operating budgets of 1 billion or more) are more likely to build recovery management facilities, infrastructure, and support teams that are too complex to move all the way to cloud computing. Small businesses are unlikely to have a formal disaster recovery strategy.

"Raas is hailed as a killer cloud application for disaster recovery, but the truth is it's hard to distinguish between true and false, of course it's considered an IT disaster recovery management," said John Morency, Gartner's research vice president. Pain point ', which requires frequent recovery testing, but also for dedicated recovery space and facility costs.

Gartner identified four major pain points for Raas:

1. Recovery test/practice costs-traditional recovery testing and practice costs are often an important part of an annual disaster recovery budget. Raas can reduce or even eliminate these costs.

2. Change Tilt-In view of the current state of the product data center infrastructure, applications and data, and the previous recovery test status, the daily corrosion is a direct impact on the application of changes to support new business requirements. Although more frequent testing can reduce the scope of the problem, it does not eradicate it. However, because virtual replication facilitates simultaneous virtualization of products and recovery data centers, specific virtual changes become easier to manage.

3. Restore configuration startup-many Web applications and servers typically have a network of complex relationships and dependencies on other applications and data. Therefore, it is essential to fully understand cross application and data dependencies. Raas can reduce complexity by replicating and application-specific restores and interdependent virtual groups.

4. Test scope-Determine which tests are very challenging, because it is never possible to have enough money to test everything frequently, so the trade-offs can be very difficult. Some enterprises test only the most important applications. Skipping other systems to perform important tests frequently; some companies extend the time between tests to withstand larger tests; some companies rotate tests between different groups of applications, and other companies specialize in testing or setting the weakest link for the next test where the failure of previous tests has failed. Ultimately, the test strategy is to maximize the likelihood of a critical workload being restored in a timely manner when a real disaster strikes. This requires judging the test targets of the modules that are most likely to be faulty or fail. Organizations are more likely to use RAAS to support more critical applications, especially those that require a short period of time to recover.

Two camps are forming in the midsize enterprises that are currently using RAAS. The first is to use the Server virtual Recovery feature and the storage area based replication configuration to propose a solution for disaster recovery within some applications. The second is to implement cloud services as an alternative to more traditional disaster recovery resources.

"For institutions that have not yet implemented Raas, Gartner suggests that cloud infrastructure surveys, especially those that exist primarily outside the data center, should be implemented," Morency said. They should then qualify for system image replication and failover and explore how service providers provide application connectivity support during the recovery test. They also need to detect and enable a range of network configurations for the provider's operational controls on potential irregularities. This will identify the potential benefits of the server and the level of management support that internal IT teams need.
