From Napster onwards, streaming media music has become a unique landscape in the technology industry. Parker, the Napster co-founder, has now relied on Spotify for another hill, hoping to achieve the "any song, no time" concept that Napster introduced. Now a service called Napster.fm is quietly appearing, and the network music player has some very interesting social elements. One of the most important is that this is a fully open source platform.
The founder of Napster.fm was a student at Carnegie Mellon University named Lester (Ryan Lester). His readme mentions that he "SpaceX to work for space technology companies while also doing something else", while what he calls other things clearly includes napster.fm. Napster.fm uses some of the vulnerabilities in the YouTube piracy detection system to get music, and users can use the platform to share the music they listen to and get music from others at anytime.
The Napster.fm search interface is very concise, and users can then share the music with their friends who are logged into the service, while also synchronizing and appreciating their friends ' music. There is also a "discovery" option on the home page to show users what other people are listening to, so that they can discover new music Discovery.
Users can also assemble 35 of friends to set up a group, where someone plays the DJ and play music for other users. These features sound familiar, and there are many streaming music platforms that support these features, such as Turntable.fm, but the Napster.fm interface is very concise and does not have to be downloaded to the client like Spotify. In addition, Napster.fm also added some of the features that Napster once owned, such as Hot List, where users can browse their friends ' libraries, chat with friends or pass music to each other.
Since Napster.fm was built using YouTube vulnerabilities, the site could be forced to shut down in the future. But Lester was prepared for this, napster.fm completely open source, and he has uploaded the Web site data that anyone can customize or start with. Lester, who has a sense of humour, has also made jokes in the FAQ:
