In the 17 News of July, Sun Microsystems shareholders have approved the sale of distressed companies to Oracle, the company's software maker, at a cost of 7.4 billion dollars. At a special shareholder meeting in Thursday, about 62% of Sun shareholders voted to support the deal. The Justice Department last month extended an antitrust review of the deal. But Oracle says the Justice Department will not prevent the deal from being completed this summer. Oracle's 9.50-dollar takeover bid defeated rival IBM's lower bid, almost one times the price of sun before it leaked the deal in March. Sun's finances have been volatile since the dotcom bust in 2001, in part because of sun's shift to low-end servers. Author: Tianhong
