You can partition the new hard drive with PQ, but do not adjust the partition size with PQ. Otherwise, many inexplicable strange phenomena will happen.
The best way to resize a partition is to back up the partition----Delete the partition---repartition. The best tool is Microsoft or Ubuntu's own zoning tool, and do not use third-party partitioning tools, after the foundation of the win on the Ubuntu, the most secure partition tool is the Ubuntu itself (such as: gparted).
If Ubuntu is installed in a logical partition on an extended partition, and there are multiple windows logical partitions in this extended partition, if you delete any of Ubuntu's logical partitions in Windows Disk Management, all Windows logical partitions except the first All other partitions may disappear.
So to prevent this, installing Ubuntu in Windows Disk Management removes the Ubuntu partition as a more risky move. The safe way to do this is to use a live CD. I personally think: a safer solution is to divide 3 primary partitions into one extended partition, and the first logical partition on the extended partition can be assigned to Windows. Other logical partitions are available to Ubuntu, so it is safe for you to remove the Ubuntu partition with Windows Disk Management.
GParted are not sorted in order, and XP cannot handle logical partitions that are not ordered, so the NTFS partition is lost when win uses Disk Management to delete Ubuntu partitions. This is a flaw in win, but it becomes a flaw in the Linux partitioning tool on the premise that win occupies most desktops
Linux partitioning Tools Although not to say that it is wrong, but it is awkward, and http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/6434.html "> Why do software developers choose such a awkward way of handling?" I think the reason, as mentioned above, is to accommodate grub.
A common response to Grub's error 17 or 22 is due to a flaw in its design
