WordPress is a popular web publishing software, most commonly used in blogs. Follow the instructions below to install WordPress on Ubuntu6.06 (Dapper Drake). WordPress runs on lamp (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) suite applications. First you need to install and configure lamp.

WordPress is a use of PHP language development of the blog platform, users can support PHP and MySQL database server to set up their own web logs. WordPress can also be used as a content management system (CMS). WordPress is a free open source project that is licensed under the GNU General Public License. The latest version is the 3.0.1 release of October 15, 2010. WordPress is considered to be the official successor of the blog platform B2/cafelog developed by Michel Valdrighi. The name "WordPress" comes from Christine Selleck, a friend of the main developer Matt Mullenweg.

Next you will install WordPress to your default Web site's/wordpress directory. If you want to install somewhere else, change these commands to be satisfied.

sudo ln-s/usr/share/wordpress/var/www/wordpress

sudo sh/usr/share/doc/wordpress/examples/setup-mysql-n (your MySQL user) localhost # use bash instead ' sh on gutsy

Sudo/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Now browse "Http://localhost/wordpress" in your browser and click on the "install.php" link.

Use the configuration to change the password of the MySQL user you are using. If you want to set up another network application, you need to create a different MySQL user. Once installed, if you want to change the URL of your website, link the file/etc/wordpress/config-localhost.php to/etc/wordpress/config-my.url.com.php, and change the URL in the WordPress Setup Options menu. For example, if my DNS is "hello.homelinux.net"

sudo ln-s/etc/wordpress/config-localhost.php/etc/wordpress/config-hello.homelinux.net.php
