Foxconn expands the number of million people

March 10, Foxconn plans to recruit 15,000 new employees this year, according to the Reuters Web site, one of the year's most new hires in the company's history. At present, the total number of Foxconn employees exceeds 1 million.

Zhu Wenming, a spokesman for Foxconn, said in Monday that the new jobs involved the next generation of business, including 4G Wireless services, cloud computing and E-commerce. He did not disclose the number of employees recruited in various business areas. The vast majority of the newly recruited 15,000 employees in Foxconn work in the Taiwan region of China.

With the market saturated in smartphones and tablets and margins falling, Foxconn has been implementing a plan to gradually reduce its reliance on foundry business. Last October, Foxconn received a licence to provide 4G services in Taiwan. Foxconn has also reached a partnership for the development and application of Mozilla's Firefox browser.

Foxconn plans to set up factories in the United States to better serve the U.S. market.
