A spokesman for Sharp responded that the company would consider receiving financial support from Foxconn on the assumption that Fuji Cannon to fulfill a promise made a few years ago to buy sharp shares at a price of 550 yen (about $4.58) per share.
In 2012, Foxconn had planned to buy a 10% stake in Sharp group at a price of 708 million dollars, but was eventually stranded in the latter's dismal earnings results. Then, Sharp accepted an investment from Qualcomm and Samsung Electronics. In the same year, Foxconn bought a nearly 50% stake in Sharp's panel factory and bought its LCD TV factory in Southeast Asia.
