Foxconn to recruit 15,000 people in Taiwan including telecommunications and software and hardware development

March 11 compiled Hon Hai Precision (also known as Foxconn Technology Group) plans to launch a large-scale recruitment in Taiwan, the iphone and ipad manufacturers want to be outside the core of the contracted production business to seek new revenue growth channels. In a statement released over the weekend, Hon Hai said it plans to recruit 15,000 people in Taiwan this year, recruiting engineers and people from other sectors such as telecoms, E-commerce, biotechnology, automation, software and hardware development. The 40-year-old company is facing a challenge of business transition and slowing growth. The company employs about 46,000 people in Taiwan, with more than 1 million employees in mainland China and a major manufacturing base for Hon Hai. Hon Hai is the main assembly maker of Apple products and the world's largest manufacturer of electronic products. To regain momentum, Hon Hai has been pushing software development and telecoms services, and has started selling its own-brand mobile accessories to the retail market. The new hires come as Hon Hai prepares to launch its fourth-generation mobile service in Taiwan next year. At the end of 2013, the company won the Taiwan 4G mobile operating license plate, the entry into the telecom market also reflects the company's deep commitment to more profitable industries. Analysts say Hon Hai's telecoms operations in Taiwan are only an attempt at its telecoms-equipment business, with the ultimate goal of selling High-value telecoms equipment and competing with global telecoms equipment giants such as Ericsson and Huawei. To attract new graduates and international talent, Hon Hai said it would provide its employees with health care, program gifts and other benefits. The company also provides an international working platform for its employees, as Hon Hai has operations in the US, Indonesia, Japan and China. Hon Hai faces problems such as increased labor costs and a working environment in mainland China. To diversify its production base, Mr Gou, the company's chairman, said Indonesia would be an important production base in the next few years. Hon Hai's main customer, Apple, is also planning to recruit engineers and other employees in mainland China and Taiwan to speed up product development just as the company is recruiting heavily in Taiwan.
