About IPMI

Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) is an open standard hardware management interface specification, which defines a specific method for communication of embedded management subsystem. IPMI information is communicated through the Base Board Management Controller (BMC), which is located on the hardware components of the IPMI specification. There are two main advantages to using low-level hardware management without operating systems: First, this configuration allows Out-of-band server management, and second, the operating system does not have to bear the task of transmitting system State data.
