The report points out that in order to overcome the problems and shortcomings of international competitiveness rankings such as WEF and IMD, to evaluate the international competitive position of countries and regions in a more scientific way, it is also to seek the initiative of our country in the evaluation of international competitiveness and avoid being misled by this aspect. According to the introduction, the competitiveness of the report within the capacity, conditions, environmental and economic performance as a target system, with GDP of more than 60 billion U.S. dollars, the population is greater than 20 million, 2007 WEF international competitiveness ranked the top 503 indicators to meet any of the conditions, the selection of 75 countries as research object. The results of the rankings for "China's second" were significantly different from previous WEF and IMD results, and Shei, the chief editor, said that the concept of "world competitiveness" could not be replaced by a standard, which needed to be explained by a sufficiently defined definition. At present, there are different scoring systems, China's own standards are still at the initial stage, there are many areas worthy of improvement, the report is more emphasis on the participation of Chinese scholars. The World Competitiveness Report 2009-2010 is the first time that Fudan University's School of Economics ranked the international competitiveness of major countries and regions in the world, and it is the first time that domestic colleges have published such rankings.
