From Oxford University in the United Kingdom, focusing on the commercialization of 3D scanning technology start-up company Fuel3d, has obtained from the Sbri healthcare value of 1.1 million U.S. dollars 3D medical imaging System development contract. Fuel 3D will develop a range of medical applications based on its Eykona scanning technology for the UK's National Medical Service system and the international health care market.
It is reported that Sbri Healthcare is the NHS (British National Medical Service System) launched a project aimed at promoting economic growth in the UK, while addressing unmet medical needs and supporting outstanding innovative technologies. At the same time, this is not the first time that Fuel3d has been funded by the project: as early as 2012, the company had received sbri healthcare funds to study 3D imaging techniques for wound patients.
Last year, Fuel 3D had successfully raised $325,000 in a cost-effective, high-definition handheld 3D scanner on Kickstarter platform. Earlier this year, the company announced an investment in the amount of 1.6 million pounds (2.6 million U.S. dollars) received by Chimera. Because of these high-profile moves, the company has also begun to consider the possibility of an IPO in 2015.
The Fuel 3D scanner is like a normal camera, just aim and press the shutter, Fuel3d can help you crawl the 3D model in a few seconds. After the scan is complete, the image source data on the Fuel3d scanner is converted to high-fidelity 3D color geometry data (This software is already included in the Fuel3d Scanner kit). The generated 3D color data allows users to view and edit from all angles and output 3D file formats that support 3D printing or other screen operations. The scanner's package is priced at $1450 and is scheduled to be shipped officially this October.
Stuart Mead, CEO of Fuel 3D, said: "Our core technology was initially developed to take into account medical imaging, so we are happy to make Eykona scanning technology work in the healthcare sector." At the same time, the execution of the contract will be parallel to the production plan of the 3D scanner, without interference. We are also looking forward to sending the first batch of fuel 3D scanners to the early supporters of Kickstarter in a few weeks. ”
