Security is often the primary concern of IT managers when considering cloud computing scenarios. How to achieve cloud security? According to Gartner analysts, creating the available cloud computing security may take the same path as SOA governance, XML gateways, and XML firewalls.
"We are expanding the concept of SOA governance to the cloud," says John Pescatore, vice president and analyst at Gartner. He recently delivered a speech at the Gartner Aadi Conference, and said that the SOA approach is important in the next generation of cloud computing applications.
Of course, one of the benefits of XML applications is that they have been widely used and security concerns so far. They isolate security from the operation of the infrastructure, which is useful when built securely.
Separating security is the key, Pescatore stressed: The highest security approach is to separate the security from the operating infrastructure.
Pescatore suggests separating security from the cloud. The separation security infrastructure is applicable to today's businesses and will not change in the new cloud computing world.
For example, Pescatore points out that the US Navy detachment uses Amazon EC2. Mainframe class information is encrypted and stored in the cloud, but the binary Digital bureau does not decrypt it.
"We've been gone for 20 years in the software World without trust in the basics," we're going to put the firewall in the right place. Pescatore ironically.
At the same time, the most cloud security best practices development, we may see more established use, but sometimes foreign technology. One of the emerging technologies for cloud computing security best practices is tagging (tokenization), according to Pescatore. Also, tagging has proven its value in dealing with cloud data governance issues, allowing businesses to store sensitive information locally, and allowing other data and data pointers to be stored in the cloud. The symbol (TOKEN) replaces the core character data and protects the information security.
While cloud computing worries will always be with us, we should recall the kind of yelling that started with SOA. "When we first launched SOA, security issues made people uneasy," Pescatore recalls. Perhaps reviewing the cloud pioneer SOA will give you some warm, comfortable feelings about the cloud.
