"Tenkine Server channel March 5 News" The world's leading information technology research and consulting firm Gartner released the latest statistics, in the fourth quarter of 2013, global server shipments in 2012 compared to the fourth quarter, the growth of 3.2%, but the revenue was reduced by 6.6%. Global server shipments grew 2.1% per cent throughout 2013, while revenue declined 4.5%.

Jeffrey Hewitt, vice president of Gartner Research, said: "There are significant differences in different areas of the server market in 2013." Global network-side It deployments are growing, while enterprise-side growth is still relatively limited. ”

"In terms of hardware platform types, mainframe and Risc/itanium UNIX markets have become a stumbling block to overall revenue growth," Hewitt said. ”

In the fourth quarter of 2013, shipments increased to the highest levels in Asia Pacific (16.3%), Japan (7.5%) and North America (only 0.01% of the micro-range). In terms of vendor revenues, all regions, with the exception of the Asia-Pacific region, are showing declines, with the Asia-Pacific region growing only 0.6% per cent compared with last year.

In terms of revenues, HP was the fourth-quarter global server market leader in 2013 (see table I), which has a fourth-quarter revenue of $3.8 billion and global market share of 28.1%, up 6% per cent compared with the same period in 2012.

Of the top five companies in the world, HP and Cisco only achieved growth in the quarter. IBM declined the most, by as much as 28.9%.

2013 Overall server Market performance

Overall shipments grew by 2.1% in 2013, revenue fell 4.5%, and regional performance varied. The X86 server continues to be a success, as the platform is used primarily for large data center expansion, especially in North America. Emerging markets such as the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America also contributed to annual growth.

The year X86 Blade server revenue grew 0.8% and shipments decreased by 2.6%. HP's X86 Blade server shipments for 2013 first, the city accounted for 40.3%, Cisco ranked second, the city accounted for 15.9%.

Looking to 2014, the growth rate will continue to be smooth, the enterprise will use X86 server virtualization to continuously consolidate and replace the entity server.

Europe, Middle East and Africa 2013 fourth quarter performance

In the fourth quarter of 2013, server shipments and revenues fell in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The total server revenue for the quarter was 3.6 billion dollars, down 6.4% from the fourth quarter of 2012 (see table III). Total server shipments were 613,000 in the fourth quarter of 2013, down 2.5% from a year earlier (see table IV). 2013 server shipments of 2.3 million units, down 5.6%, the server's total revenue of 12.4 billion U.S. dollars, reduce 6.3%.

"The EMEA server market has 10 consecutive quarterly revenue declines," said Adrian O ' Connell, Gartner research director. The continued economic downturn has had a profound impact on the EMEA server market. The total revenue in 2013 was only 2007 years (before the recession began) of about 2/3.

EMEA All regional server revenues are in decline compared to last year; the biggest recession was in Eastern Europe, reaching 14.1% per cent. Western Europe was reduced by 4.9%, while in the Middle East and Africa by 6.8%.

In the fourth quarter of 2013, X86 server revenue increased 1.4%,risc/itanium Unix revenue fell 20.1%, while other CPU sector revenue declined 35.7%. Platform conversion continues to impact the X86 architecture system. O ' Connell points out: "While other CPUs have experienced a period of growth, the current cyclical dynamics have disappeared, making the overall weaker." ”

HP and IBM revenues both declined in the fourth quarter of 2013. The decline was lower than the market average, as HP continued to strengthen its executive power and constantly increase its market share. IBM's poor performance this quarter due to the product lifecycle, not only 26.4% of revenues, but also a 7% reduction in market share compared with the same period in 2012. Dell continues to work to increase the growth rate of its servers, and, like Oracle, is the most significant increase in revenue compared to last year.

O ' Connell said: "This year the EMEA server market ended at a particular low point." For manufacturers, the good news is that demand presents a stable situation, but high, low-end platform polarization phenomenon remains. In the 2014, low-end server manufacturers should be more optimistic, but at the same time the high-end market will still face difficult challenges. ”
