25th, the first time that Alzheimer's disease became the focus of the Davos forum, a report entitled World Alzheimer's 2009 showed that people around the world had 3500多万名 dementia and that the figure would double every 20 years to more than 65.7 million people in 2030. "The rapid increase in patients with Alzheimer's is a huge burden on the economy, society and individuals, and we are only just taking action on this situation," said Dr. Robert N. Butler, Davos forum Moderator. Today's meetings of government, business and civil society representatives are important measures to promote urgent action. "Dementia is one of the major causes of disability in later life and is associated with a large number of potential brain diseases." Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia and is a deadly disease that develops gradually. It mainly bothers the elderly, especially older persons over the age of 65. The report, released by Adi (Alzheimer's disease Analysys), shows that the increase in the number of people with dementia is largely attributable to an increase in the number of patients in low-and middle-income countries. The researchers found that 57.7% of the world's dementia patients are currently from low-and middle-income countries, and that proportion is expected to increase to 70.5% by 2050. In the next 20 years, the number of people with dementia in low-and middle-income countries will grow much larger than in high-income countries. The report predicts that the number of people with dementia will grow in the following regions: 40% in Europe, 63% in North America, 77% in Southern Latin America, and 89% in the Asia-Pacific region, and 117% in East Asia, 107% in South Asia, 134% in Latin America and the other in North Africa and the Middle East. The global economic cost of dementia was estimated at $315 billion trillion in 2009. The total cost per person for dementia each year is estimated at $1521 in low-income countries, estimated at $4588 in middle-income countries and estimated at $17964 in high-income countries. Experts predict that the sales of such drugs may exceed the current ranked in the top three cardiovascular drugs, gastrointestinal drugs and anti-infective drugs, the development momentum is promising. There is no doubt that dementia and Alzheimer's disease will put a huge burden on individuals, families, healthcare infrastructure, industry and the global economy. The treatment, care and support available to the patient will be a predictable and burdensome burden on the nation's overburdened health care system.
