BEIJING News: You have worked in Hollywood for so many years, what do you think is the biggest experience of Hollywood success?

Raymond: The entire entertainment industry was born in the United States, and Hollywood has accumulated a great deal of expertise and skills in film, television and music. Hollywood's mature experience is all aspects, the entertainment industry is a business, with professional management skills, creative incubation platform, equipment, engineering, story narration and other talents.

China now hopes to promote its cultural and creative industries, has a lot of talent and resources, I think it can work with the United States, learn from this side of expertise, from the promotion of their own industries.

Beijing News: Your company's business is a small part of the whole Hollywood chain, but in China it seems to be just a few big studios supporting the industry. Do you think Hollywood is the kind of big company subcontracting to small businesses that suits China?

Raymond: I don't think it's outsourcing. In Hollywood, there are big production companies, and a lot of small independent companies, marketing companies, research companies, and companies like us, which are more of a collaborative relationship. I think it's going to happen in China, too. With the industry growing, more and more people will join in, and more small companies are born. Large companies still exist, but will increasingly work with small companies.

The Beijing News: Does the whole of Hollywood see the game business as an important area now?

Raymond: We are still the traditional tour business mainly to profit point, but if we do well, future online games will be more profitable. This is the future, and so is the whole of Hollywood. Into the 21st century, the world is connected with the Internet, the game is the future development trend, this is a huge market.

Beijing News: There are many game-making talents in China, and many game companies outsource their business to China.

Raymond: I think it's more appropriate to use "cooperation". There are a lot of professionals in China who are good at making games. America's browser-gaming market lags behind China's, and all over the world, including China, there are a variety of companies with game-making expertise, and we are looking for such cooperation globally.

I think internationalization is very important for the cultural and creative industries. Can be in the professional manufacturing, sales, design and other aspects of global cooperation, this is a very smart business model.

Beijing News: Your business is based on intellectual property, but in China, many ideas are coming from the Internet where intellectual property management is loosely managed, what do you think of the relationship between intellectual property and creativity?

Raymond: I think intellectual property is very important, especially when you want to build an international brand, you need the protection of intellectual property to really promote it. China is also strengthening its intellectual property cooperation, and I think if China wants to develop the brand of entertainment industry, only copyright will be protected.

Beijing News: What are your suggestions for developing cultural and creative industries in China?

Raymond: I think there are several things that are important to develop the entertainment industry, and China is doing it. It is important that the government and private enterprises work together to ensure legal regulation and allow industry to grow.

The second step is (external) cooperation, China can through the cooperation with global companies, to obtain professional talent and knowledge. Through this kind of strategic cooperation, let the market grow up well. When I came to Beijing, I was also aware of the openness of the Chinese government, and they had the desire to promote the industry.
