Globally, 65% of internet users say they shopped online last month (through a variety of devices). It is also notable that 90% of people said that online shopping had been done at some point in the past, highlighting the real global impact of E-commerce. However, regional disparities are strong: over 70% per cent of internet users in North America and the Asia-Pacific region are monthly shoppers, but the proportion is 44% in the Middle East and Africa. At the national level, China is at the leading position, with more than 82% of the Internet users buying online, estimated at nearly 382 million people. It is also striking that 35 million people in China have shopped online for the first time in the last 12 months. Of course, E-commerce is also the absolute mainstream in some of the most mature Internet markets. For example Germany (78%), Great Britain (76%) and the United States (72%). But China is no doubt the global power of online shopping.
