Hadoop gets better security and several operational dimensions improvements

Recently released http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13537.html ">hadoop 2.4.0 has several enhancements for HDFs and yarn. This includes support for access control lists, native support for rolling upgrades, full HTTPS support for HDFS, yarn automatic failover, and other operational dimensions improvements.

This is the second release of the 3721.html ">2014 Year" (the first was released in February 2.3.0). The following are brief details on these enhancements-the access Control list enhances the HDFS permission model to support file access under any combination of users and groups. Before that, you can only choose from 3 options that have been given, a single owner, a separate group, and all other users.

Rolling upgrades make it much easier to upgrade management of High-volume Hadoop installations.

Provides full HTTPS support for HDFs across all components (Webhdfs, hsftp, and web interfaces).

Yarn Application history Server, which runs on yarn, provides a common solution for documenting the history of applications.

A general-purpose application timeline server that enables applications running in yarn to better measure the application of specific metrics, such as containers used or resources consumed.

Automatic failover for yarn-in the event of an operational dimension such as a hardware failure, the application can switch to a cold backup resource manager's native support, providing HDFS full HTTPS support, yarn automatic failover, and other operational dimensions improvements.
