Half of scientists think academic misconduct is common

(reporter Hennessey) yesterday, the Chinese Association of Science and Technology academic Construction Conference released the Development Report of China Association of Scientific and Technological periodicals, nearly half of the scientific and technical personnel believe that the current academic misconduct is a common phenomenon. The report points out that plagiarism, improper attribution and deliberate concealment of important references are the three most prominent academic misconduct by journal editors and subject experts. The inducement of the moral anomie of the researchers is mainly the temptation of the real interests, the performance supremacy and the high social expectation. The main reason lies in "the problem of scientific research evaluation system Guidance", "academic misconduct disciplinary mechanism is not perfect" and so on. In this paper, the report proposes that we should establish and perfect relevant laws and regulations and policies, strengthen scientific moral integrity education, formulate preventive measures, and improve the system construction of editorial department to eliminate academic misconduct.
