HDS develops data receivers to build data "hive"

HDS has accelerated the development of its cloud object storage HDI to http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/6267.html "> Share data, retrieve old versions of files, and continuously migrate new files to a Hitachi based cloud."

HDI is a physical or virtual caching device that provides a NAS interface for virtualized and extensible object storage by using the file data obtained from the Hitachi content platform (HCP) from remote and branch offices or other cloud storage users.

Multiple HDI devices can surround a central HCP site, much like bees swarm around the hive and pass pollen to make honey.

The new features are as follows:

Shared content: Enables "edge-dispersed" data to span the HDI system network. Multiple HDI systems can be read from a single HCP namespace, and the HDI system can access other HDI systems. Users can deploy a wide-area content distribution framework.

File restore: Through active directories and LDAP files, users can retrieve previous versions of files, delete files, maintain files, and control directory access.

Nas migration: The ability to transparently migrate data from NAS and Windows servers to HDI implementations. It supports automatic tuning and continuous data migration to HDI.

HDS says that with its hdi/hcp combination, customers no longer have to back up data at the edge, such as remote and branch offices. Instead, it can be sent to a central, object-based cloud Repository, where it can be protected, restored, and shared.

By leveraging state-of-the-art facilities such as multiple leases and multiple namespaces, you can simply help the IT infrastructure at the edge.
