LSI Corporation is a leading semiconductor and software provider headquartered in Milpitas, Calif. Its key products include: RAID Controllers, SSD Controllers, ReadChannels, Preamps, Axxia Network Processors and Custom ASICs, etc., provide many leading solutions for accelerating data storage center and mobile network performance.

LSI Corporation's tradition of innovation rich in resources, its advocacy of advanced technology defines the way people work and live. LSI has pioneered a wide range of industry firsts, including the world's first digital signal processor, SAS chip and mobile content server. As the amount of data on the global network grows, so does the need for commonality and interoperability. In-depth and long-term participation in key industry standards and specifications is key to LSI's success in the target market.

In 1979, after Wilfred Corrigan resigned his position as chief executive officer of Fairchild Semiconductor, he started to build LSI Corporation in Milpitas, California, where his main business was semiconductor ASICs. The other three co-founders of LSI are Bill O'Meara (marketing and sales), Rob Walker (engineering) and Mitchell "Mick" Bohn (finance).

In 1981, LSI Corporation announced the formal establishment of its initial capital of 600 million US dollars, from Sequoia Capital and other famous venture capital firms. In 1982, the company completed the second round of foreign capital investment and raised 16 million U.S. dollars. On Friday, May 13, 1983, the company was listed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange under the symbol LSI. Its IPO market capitalization was as high as 153 million U.S. dollars, setting the record for IPO of the largest technology company ever.

After that, LSI established independent affiliates in Japan, Europe and Canada to expand its business all over the world. Nihon LSI Logic, a Tokyo-based company, successfully raised $ 20 million in private placement in April 1984; Lackey's LSI Logic Corporation successfully raised $ 20 million in private equity in June 1984; LSI Logic Canada Inc., based in Alberta and Calgary, Canada, is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

In 2005, LSI became the Fabless Factoryless Semiconductor Design Company as the ASIC market matured, third-party design tools became ubiquitous, and the cost of building wafer fabs increased. During the semiconductor business development, LSI Corporation has been focusing on two core areas of data storage and mobile network through a series of mergers and acquisitions and investments, and has led the way in these two areas.

Today's customers need robust storage solutions to meet the diverse requirements that they have from handheld products to data centers. LSI addresses this need by providing industry-leading product portfolios including SAS and 4 Gb / s Fiber Channel systems, SerDes transceiver cores for OEM storage and SAN applications, RAID adapters, hard drive read channels, preamplifiers, servo Controller, hard disk controller and firmware. LSI Corporation also offers highly integrated and high-performance storage system-level SOC chips.

Through LSI's storage technology, partners and customers get the performance and design flexibility they need to deliver outstanding storage capacity, speed, reliability and power efficiency. LSI Corporation has longstanding leadership positions in each of the storage segments including mobile, desktop and enterprise-class drives, custom silicon solutions for storage and SAN fabric devices, server-oriented storage standard components and adapters, Modular storage systems for large enterprise groups and midsize businesses; storage networks for stationary and portable consumer electronics.

As more and more people and devices are inextricably linked to the digital world, the demand for innovative networking solutions for homes, businesses and public access networks continues to grow. In response to this demand, LSI offers a number of different solutions for providing unimpeded connectivity to customers and businesses.

The tradition from Bell Labs offers LSI companies unmatched expertise and knowledge of networking and data transfer.
