Today, 1.5% of the world's electricity generation is being supplied to data centers around the globe, not to be underestimated by 1.5%, which is equivalent to a year's worth of 50 large power plants, and the problem is not just energy consumption. Because of the huge demand for electricity in the data centers, carbon dioxide emissions are as high as 2.1 billion tonnes a year, the equivalent of 41 million vehicles.

The damage is far from over, because the data center needs a large number of air-conditioning equipment, these devices generally contain freon, it is known that this is the killer of the ozone Layer, and the destruction of the ozone layer will lead to a series of ecological disasters.

Even if companies do not care about these ecological problems, they should be concerned about their wallets, and the global data center spends 27 billion of billions of dollars a year on cooling systems as a result of the massive cooling.

We can see that in the existing data center, a large number of electrical energy is consumed by the cooling system, but at the same time, the current data center requirements of the operating temperature is generally 21 degrees Celsius, in order to ensure such a temperature, while in order to avoid the presence of local hotspots affect the server and storage reliability, Data centers have to adopt a large number of cooling equipment, which is a contradiction of energy supply, how to deal with enterprises?

Increase the ambient temperature

If our server can guarantee sufficient stability and reliability at temperatures above 21 degrees, can we properly improve the temperature of the data center to reduce the energy consumption on the cooling system and improve the pue of the data center?

As we can see, 77% of the world's data centers are currently working at 18-21-degree ambient temperatures, and if we raise the ambient temperature to 25-27 degrees, servers and storage can still work, but with huge energy savings.

The Earth's average temperature is 14 degrees, but the distribution is divided into imbalances, for many parts of the world, outdoor ambient temperature can be kept below 27 degrees, if we increase the temperature of the data center to 27 degrees, or even more than 30 degrees, then we no longer need air-conditioning, only natural wind cooling is enough, This will undoubtedly greatly reduce costs and pue.
