Walking in the forefront of technology, Silicon Valley talent competition is self-evident, some companies have even started recruiting interns from high school. Interns are the company's talent pool, the future of the enterprise, in order to find the next jobs, Zuckerberg or Larry Page, Facebook, twitter, google and other big companies attach great importance to the benefits of interns, to provide them with luxury apartments, free meals, free gymnasium, etc. The salary is also very tempting. Through a series of measures to attract more "talented" to join, so that excellent interns better integration into the enterprise, for the project to do more work, the future will be more willing to stay.
Accommodation, transportation, catering ... It's all free.
In companies such as Google, Facebook and Twitter, the cost of accommodation for interns is borne by the company and the accommodations are good. Debarghya Das, a Google intern, described the Quora:
The free accommodations that Google offers us can be described in luxury. Although it will be shared with 3 other people, the room has a TV, patio, two bathrooms, washing machines and dryers, a dishwasher in the kitchen and two cleaning services a week.
Apple does not pay all the rent for interns, but offers apartments that are very inexpensive and pays for all transportation (whether it's business or not), as well as buses and bicycles to facilitate commuting.
In Silicon Valley, companies offer a variety of preferential treatment: meals are free, interns can enjoy high-end cafes in Facebook or Apple's campus, and to relieve stress, they can go to the gym for free and discount at a co-operative bar. Twitter organizes pilates and rock climbing activities for employees, and Google offers dance lessons. Paul Baltescu, an intern at two big Silicon Valley companies, said:
Internships in Google are special, and interns can enjoy exactly the same preferential policies as regular employees.
Dropbox to pay for the parents of interns
Every company has its secrets to ensure the benefits of interns: Twitter offers yoga classes; Dropbox and Google have great massage rooms and barber shops, Palantir provide good medical care and even a chiropractor.
But the core of the internship is work, and these companies are very concerned about how students to better integrate into the team. To do this, Google will start a week of workshops to promote better integration of new members into the team. Facebook, Apple and Palantir will organize several team-building during the internship to improve the relationship between interns and co-workers.
Dropbox also pays for the parents of interns, inviting them to visit Dropbox, explaining what Dropbox is doing and what their children are doing. Bogdan Cristian Tataroiu, from Romania, was still very excited to recall the experience:
They finally understood why I chose this job. This visit is an unforgettable experience for our family.
