How to use Windows Azure Extension technology to integrate chef into virtual machines

Today, after the first anniversary of the virtual machine's public release, Mark demonstrates the opening Azure Extender for Linux! He demonstrated how to use the Azure portal, with only a single check box, to deploy the latest Chef client to the VM directly when the VM was started, running with RB and PEM files. This means that you just start the virtual machine on Azure and connect it to your Chef server without logging on, enabling SSH, or doing anything with the virtual machine. This also means that you can get the same experience on Windows and Linux through the Azure portal.

We developed these Azure extenders to make it easier for you to use your favorite solution! These extenders provide additional value that can be updated throughout the VM lifecycle. The VM Agent with the Extender has been published on Windows and is now announcing its upcoming release on Linux, bringing a PaaS-like feature to the IaaS virtual machine that you can use across the operating system at your own will and pace.

With Chef, Linux, and Azure, we have a happy choice ... No, as Mark so eloquently explained, was a very happy choice (though he did not utter the word "very").
