Hewlett-Packard CEO Li Ai (Leo Apotheker) announced the company's new strategy for future development in Monday, with the news of HP CEO Li Ai Beijing time on the evening of March 15. He said in an interview that HP will vigorously develop the software business, but will not sell the PC business, will pay attention to the hardware and software business, HP will be in its hardware products with webOS, using the size of nearly 100 million products per year to attract application developers, and Apple and Google platform competition.  He also stressed that HP in the software and cloud computing products have its own unique advantages, to provide IBM and other competitors do not have products, while the Asia-Pacific region is HP's important market, HP will pay more attention to China and India, to promote market share gradually increase. Asked how HP would raise revenue in the current hardware-dominated business, Apotheker said HP plans to develop software business vigorously, but does not intend to turn into a software company. HP wants to increase the share of the software business in the company's revenue while maintaining the strength of its hardware business.  He points out that HP plans to be a provider of end-to-end complete solutions in the IT industry, rather than just one of the market segments. Denies selling PC business Taiwan's "Business Times" last week said HP plans to sell its PC business and has approached companies such as Samsung, Foxconn and Lenovo.  But Hewlett-Packard later denied the report, saying the news was a complete rumor. Hewlett-Packard is the world's largest manufacturer of PCs, PC shipments last year up to 64 million units, in the global market share of 18.8%.  While the tablet boom has hit HP's consumer PC business, HP's commercial PC business has rebounded markedly as corporate users gradually adopt Windows 7. Talking about the sale of the PC business, Apotheker said it was a rumor he could not bear. In the interview, he stressed again that the PC business in HP's future development occupies an importantStatus, the company will never sell PC business.  Both software and hardware will dominate HP's future development plan, he said, and PC products loaded with webOS are an important part of HP's strategic development plan. Aggressively developing webOS in April 2010, Hewlett-Packard acquired the webOS operating system by buying a smartphone maker, palm, for $1.2 billion.  This February, HP released three new products from the webOS system, including the Touchpad tablet and the veer and pre 3 smartphones. But Apple is now in the forefront of mobile devices, with Apple iOS, Google Android, Microsoft WM and Rim, among other platforms.  There is a clear gap between HP and its rivals, and how to launch a platform with unique advantages has become the biggest challenge for HP. Apple's iOS platform already has 350,000 apps, Google's Android App Store has 60,000 apps, while webOS, which is dragged down by Palm's weak sales, has only 6,000 apps. Apotheker said the tablet is still in the beginning, market competition is just beginning, the pattern is not determined, Touchpad tablet computer will be listed this June. He points out that HP will load webOS into its PCs and printers next year, including smartphones and tablets, equivalent to 100 million webOS devices a year.  This will bring huge economies of scale, thus attracting application developers to develop applications for webOS, driving the rapid growth in the number of platform applications. Apotheker also said that HP has a clear edge in the intersection of consumers and business users.  HP will play this advantage, combined with cloud computing and connectivity, to ensure the security of the platform environment, and thus to the webOS in the market competition to provide a strong guarantee.  Software business Advantages The current software PRODUCT areas have IBM, Oracle and SAP, such as strong rivals, if you want to occupy their own space in the fierce competition, Hewlett-Packard must have differentiated software business, to provide customers with unique competitive products. Asked about rivals, Apotheker pointed out that SAP is HP's partner and that there is no competition between the two sides, and will work together to provide the best solution for customers.  He continues to say that IBM offers solutions that focus on past market demands, while HP's solutions are more suited to future demand. Apotheker noted that HP is focused on cloud computing and cloud solutions, focusing on the overall security of cloud services, focusing on deep data analysis and vertical solutions to provide an open cloud application market. He stressed that these are the advantages of HP's software business, and IBM products are not available. HP wants to provide LAAS (infrastructure as a service), PAAS (Platform-as-service) and the most important connectivity that no other company can offerOf。 HP has launched a "big data" application that leverages the real-time analytics capabilities of newly acquired Vertica. When asked about HP's advantage in real-time analytics, Mr Apotheker said Hewlett-Packard had provided services to almost all of the world's large enterprises and offered a number of services similar to business intelligence, based on a vertical basis. Focusing on Asia-Pacific markets, he stressed that the Asia-Pacific region is important to HP and is an important growth area for the company, and Hewlett-Packard will pay more attention to the two big markets, China and India.  The market share of HP's PC business in China fell to 7.4% in the fourth quarter of last year, with Lenovo, Acer and Dell ranked fourth, IDC data showed.
