Hewlett-Packard announced today that companies around the world have chosen HP's performance-optimized data center (POD) to rapidly expand data center resources while maximizing efficiency.
On the basis of HP's converged infrastructure, HP POD supports rapid customer expansion to address the growing space, power, and cost challenges of data center expansion. HP's modular Datacenter products include HP Pod 20c, HP pod 40c and HP pod 240a. HP POD 240a, referred to as HP Ecopod, offers an extremely energy-efficient design that consumes 95% less energy than traditional data centers and reduces the initial data center capital costs by up to 75%.
US local governments save 6 million of dollars by making full use of resources
As the seat of the Texas State Paso (county) government, Paso City needs to consolidate its limited IT resources and ensure that it supports long-term development. The city chooses HP pod-hosted HP blade servers and storage to support IT operations in law enforcement, justice and administration, with a population of over 800,000.
HP designed the main data center in a 40-foot HP pod, and redesigned the existing county Failover center, which was made up of aging Dell and EMC hardware and software. The deployed HP Pod contains HP ProLiant bl460c G7 servers for greater efficiency and provides three-phase power supplies to ensure sufficient power to deliver to each rack.
By eliminating service overlap and consolidating IT departments, Paso's HP pod deployments have saved taxpayers nearly 6 million dollars. In recognition of the forward-looking thinking in this large-scale it deployment process, the municipal government received the Texas County Association's innovative Best Practice Award and City-County cooperation award.

Increase capacity to enhance HPC competitiveness

In support of the super computer system in the Australian government's 1.1 billion Dollar Super Science Program (initiative), the Research institute Ivec deployed HP POD 20c to promote research in radio astronomy, nanotechnology, geoscience and other leading computing communities.
