HP plans new cloud computing and research Center in China

Hewlett-Packard set up two new research and development centers in China, one dedicated to cloud computing and the other for research, gradually capturing the vast market in China.

HP also plans to open research and development Centers for enterprise-class servers, storage, and networking. It will be built with the end in Beijing.

Apotheker pointed out: HP's goal is to target China's specific market. Hewlett-Packard recently appointed Todd Bradley to take charge of the Chinese market, but he is also the head of HP's personal Systems group.

HP's top executives will visit China this week, suggesting they value China's markets. Hewlett-Packard announced in Saturday that it would set up a regional center in Shanghai, where its personal systems group would be responsible for the development and manufacture of PCs, tablets and smartphones.

In a speech on cloud computing in Wednesday, Apotheker said HP was about to become a major cloud service provider, and in March this year HP unveiled a new cloud storage platform that will compete with Amazon and Google.

Gartner noted that China is one of the world's fastest-growing cloud computing countries, with 55% per cent of Chinese respondents saying they would spend more than 10% of the company's IT budget 2013 years ago, compared with 49% and 42% in the US and Europe respectively.
