On February 27, HTC announced a cloud storage partnership program at this year's World Mobile Congress (MWC2012), teaming up with Dropbox and Sina Weibo to provide free mobile cloud storage services to HTC One user.
HTC has unveiled the latest HTC One-series four new machines on the MWC2012, the flagship of the four-core processor, HTC a X, the slim-body HTC One, HTC One XL, which supports the LTE network, and the music phone for the midrange market.
In addition to smartphones, HTC has announced smart-phone cloud storage services and related cooperation programs. HTC chief executive Peter Chou says it will work with U.S. cloud storage enterprise Dropbox to provide a two-year 25GB space cloud storage service for HTC One users free of charge. Dropbox is now the forerunner of cloud storage enterprise, the company valuation already amounted to 10 billion dollars.
But since Dropbox is still restricted in mainland China, HTC's partner in mainland China has switched to Sina Weibo. It is said that the Sina micro-disk cloud storage space starting capacity than the existing 2GB, and no limit. In addition, for Windows Phone platform, HTC says it will also work with Microsoft SkyDrive to provide 25GB of free space.
In addition to meeting the cloud-storage market trends, HTC is partly a challenge for Apple's cloud services offerings, icloud. June 7, 2011, Apple launched the icloud cloud service at the Global Developers Conference in San Francisco's Mosconewest Convention Center, which enables seamless docking of existing Apple devices and provides 5GB free cloud storage space for users. Apple then declared that icloud would gradually replace MobileMe and outperform the cloud music services of Google and Amazon.
