Huawei's first half smartphone shipments increased 62% per cent over 34.27 million units

Yesterday morning, Huawei Consumer BG announced the first half of 2014 terminal shipping data: mobile phones, mobile broadband services and home terminals total of 64.21 million shipments, including 34.27 million smartphone shipments, an increase of 62% per cent.

Huawei told reporters that overseas markets have been a bright spot for this round of growth.

In the second quarter of 2014, Huawei smartphones shipped 20.56 million units in the global market, an increase of 85% per cent year-on-year. Among them, the Middle East and Africa market growth of up to 550% Year-on-year, Latin America market growth of 275%, Asia-Pacific market growth of 180%, the European market growth of 120% year-on-year. This further reinforces Huawei's smartphone leadership in the regional market. And in parts of the Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Huawei has become the local leading brand. According to the May 2014 GfK Retail Data monitoring report, Huawei smartphone in Colombia's market share reached 18%, ranked first.

In the first half of the year, Huawei conducted a number of marketing campaigns overseas and raised its brand influence by sponsoring sporting events. The head of Huawei told reporters that by sponsoring the football club, Huawei's smartphone presence in the local market was rapidly increased.

Huawei said that in the second half of the year, Huawei Consumer BG will closely cooperate with telecom operators, open markets, electricity and other marketing channels, continue to launch a highly competitive Millennium 4G boutique mobile phones as well as in the power of high-end market flagship models, 4G Intelligent Terminal full range of layout. In addition, Huawei will continue to layout in other terminal areas such as wearable equipment.

Last week, Huawei announced the first half of 2014 business performance. Data show that in the first half of this year, Huawei achieved sales revenue of 135.8 billion yuan, an increase of 19%, operating profit rate of 18.3%.
