Huawei's smartphone sales rose by nearly 30% in 2014 to $11.8 billion, according to leaked Huawei's internal meeting minutes, Reuters reported January 1. Mobile phone shipments reached 75 million, compared with 2013 growth of more than 40%. However, the figure still fails to meet Huawei's previous 80 million sales target.

It is reported that these figures should be announced in the coming weeks. The growth of Huawei's smartphone sales and sales has once again established Huawei's position in the mobile market. Meanwhile, the growing smartphone makers of millet and LG are gobbling up the market share of the big-guy handset makers.

Analysts expect Samsung's mobile phone shipments to be unchanged this year as a result of pressure from low-cost handset makers, while Apple, the second-largest, is likely to grow 20% per cent in IPhone6 mobile-phone support.

However, the growth was far below the speed of the millet handset, which sold 26 million handsets in the first half of 2014. If Millet can achieve 60 million mobile phone sales targets this year, the company's mobile phone sales will be more than three times times in 2013 (2013 sales of 18.7 million U.S. dollars). Investors apparently think the company will continue to grow wildly: Millet has just announced a new round of funding and the company is valued at $45 billion trillion, making the company the most expensive unlisted technology company.

Meanwhile, analysts expect LG's smartphone shipments to grow by 26% per cent this year. TrendForce analyst Alan Chen says Huawei, Millet and Lenovo will snatch the position of China's smartphone boss in 2015.
