IBM acquires Storediq software company enhances large data processing capability

IBM announced on December 19 that it had signed a deterministic agreement to acquire STOREDIQ software companies. Storediq is a private enterprise in Austin, Texas. The terms of the deal are not disclosed. The deal will boost IBM's efforts.

The deal will enhance IBM's previous investment in information lifecycle governance. The ability to increase Storediq will allow users to find and use the value of unstructured information, respond more effectively to lawsuits and regulatory events, and reduce information costs as data ages.

Storediq software provides scalable analysis and governance for different and decentralized e-mail and file sharing and collaboration sites. These features include discovery, analysis, monitoring, retention, collection, deletion of duplicates, and processing of data. In addition, Storediq can quickly analyze large amounts of unstructured data and automatically process files and e-mails according to regulatory requirements.

IBM plans to incorporate STOREDIQ into the IBM Software division and IBM Information Lifecycle governance business. The deal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
