IBM said the 2010 earthquake in Haiti exacerbated the country's shortage of medical equipment and professionals. Because of a chronic shortage of medical resources, according to data released by the World Health Organization in 2009, Haiti is the world's highest infant and maternal mortality rate, high blood pressure, stroke and other diseases.
