IBM Workload Deployer (hereinafter referred to IWD) is based on mature http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13387.html ">websphere middleware technology, It can link the key application of enterprise with the virtual resource pool, implement security deployment and manage the application environment in the private cloud, let Enterprise realize the cloud Application mode of PaaS platform namely service, enhance the utilization efficiency of resource, and reduce the complexity of the management of key application resource greatly. In a private cloud, the task deployment tool is often used to IWD access to IBM middleware virtual mirrors and schemas, to easily, quickly and repeatedly create secure deployments, manage the application environment in a private cloud, and accelerate the flexible deployment of the cloud environment system. Therefore, IWD is used more and more widely in Cloud.
The following problems are frequently encountered with IWD deployment systems: Due to compatibility issues between vendors, it is not possible to use direct mirroring of the OVF format exported by VMware ESX; Sometimes you encounter a version of the mirror that needs to be deployed that is not found in the IWD mirror. In fact, the availability of mirrors affects IWD's flexible and convenient applications. IBM Image Construction and Composition Tools (hereinafter referred to as ICCT) are a good solution to this problem. This article will introduce the use of ICCT for IWD to build a mirror that meets the needs.
IWD Introduction and mirroring problems encountered using procedures
IWD is an upgraded version of the IBM WebSphere Cloudburst v2.0 device that leverages the virtual resources already in the enterprise IT environment to dynamically manage and flex existing workloads. This device, through WebSphere middleware technology, realizes the close connection between the Enterprise key application and the virtual resource pool, and can help the enterprise realize the PaaS (Platform-service) cloud Application mode. The device can deploy middleware mirroring in existing x86, power, and ZVM virtual environments.
IWD provides both standard automation equipment and the ability to customize and configure the Enterprise/organization. It provides support for standard deployments and customized deployments through a range of predefined components, schemas, policies, cross-component links, and templates. It provides more flexibility and configuration for the installation, configuration, and integration of (middleware) components, with which users can focus on the deployment of the application. A common requirement for private clouds is to create standard mirroring, virtualization, and automation.
IWD Workflow Using Mirroring
A brief introduction to the relationship between IWD workflow and mirroring in a private cloud system. IWD discovers existing mirrored repositories in a private cloud environment, importing standards-based external mirrors as virtual devices into its repository. When IWD captures a running virtual server, it obtains the basic virtual server's operating system, running applications, and virtual server definitions. When you capture a virtual server, you create a mirror in the mirrored repository that has the same definition as the virtual server and can be deployed multiple times in the environment. Alternatively, import a mirrored package in the Open virtualization format (OVF) format from the Internet or other external sources to deploy them in a private cloud system. Rapid deployment of mirrors to create new virtual servers to meet changing business needs reflects the IWD flexibility and efficiency.
Therefore, creating a mirror suitable for the application environment becomes the key to the flexible use of IWD in Cloud.
IWD encountered mirroring during deployment
In a private cloud, when using IWD to deploy the various versions of a test, it is sometimes possible to encounter a mirror that does not meet the requirements, and a previously used image of a OVF format that is not directly available, limiting the more flexible and convenient use of IWD.
ICCT resolves IWD encountered mirroring problems and ICCT installation
During the actual deployment of IWD, it is found that using software tools ICCT can solve the problem of mirroring, and can realize the diversity of mirrors in IWD.
