IDC: Android Tablet PC shipments have stabilized iOS

At the time, IDC data showed PC shipments fell 14% per cent year-on-year in the first quarter, as more users opted to buy tablets. The IDC report also shows that Google's Android operating system supports more tablet shipments than Apple's iOS-backed ipad in the first quarter of this year. In fact, Android's share of the tablet market has overtaken iOS since the third quarter of 2012, a spokesman for IDC said. In the first quarter of this year, Android tablet shipments reached 27.8 million units (56.5% of the market), compared to 19.5 million of the iOS tablet (39.6% of the market share) and Windows and Windows RT Tablet PC shipments are 1.6 million units and 200,000 units (the market share of 3.3% and 0.4% respectively), the other operating system Tablet PC shipments of 100,000 units (the market share of 0.2%).
