Beijing time January 26 morning news, according to foreign media reports, the U.S. market research company IDC released a Monday report that Google's Android operating system is expected to sweep the smartphone market in the next few years, growth will surpass all competitors. From now until 2013, according to IDC, Android is expected to become the fastest-growing mobile operating system, the world's second-largest smartphone operating system. The current global dominance of the smartphone operating system is Symbian, which is mainly used in Nokia handsets. Rim ranked second, and Apple ranked third. But in the U.S. market is different, Symbian's market share is very small, rim ranked first, Apple ranked second, Microsoft Windows Mobile is ranked third. By 2013, IDC believes Android could grow much faster than its rivals and will beat Rim to become the world's second-largest smartphone operating system and will replace Apple's second position in the US market. The reason for this change is that more and more handset makers are starting to adopt the Android operating system. Manufacturers such as Motorola, HTC and Samsung released a variety of Android handsets in 2009, and the 2010 figure is expected to continue to increase, and sales will rise accordingly. Motorola said it would release at least 10 new Android handsets in the first half of the year. Stephen Drake, an analyst at IDC, said a Stephen Drick of devices would boost Android market share growth. One of the big advantages of Android, compared to the operating systems of companies such as Rim and Apple, is that hardware comes from multiple vendors. Rim and Apple's operating systems can only be used for their own hardware. "Although there are many operating systems on the market, there is not much choice for hardware vendors without their own software," says Derek. Microsoft Windows Mobile also wants to expand the market. But Derek thinks Android will grow faster than Windows Mobile, as Android is a free open-source system and Windows Mobile charges a licensing fee. Also for this reason, Derek believes that handset makers will be more focused on developing Android. Windows Mobile is still a very popular mobile operating system that already has a large user base, but its growth has stalled as manufacturers and consumers await the launch of Windows Mobile 7.0. Although Derek does not think that handset makers will give up Windows Mobile, it will increase support for Android. HTC, for example, is currently the largest mobile phone manufacturer of Windows Mobile, but the company is turning its attention to Android. Motorola, LG and Samsung have all adopted similar strategies. Derek said: "This is bad for Windows Mobile." If you look at smartphone news over the past year, Microsoft is rarely mentioned. They need to rely on Windows Mobile 7.0 to stir up some waves, and they also need to use the system to launch some exciting features, thus stepping into the ' super mobile ' ranks. (PEI)
