IDC estimates that global private cloud spending in 2012 was about $5.5 billion trillion, while public-sector spending was $40 billion trillion. IDC expects private cloud spending to reach $9.1 billion trillion this year, up 64% from last year. By 2016, private cloud spending would have averaged more than $24 billion trillion a year, from 2011-2016 's annual compound growth rate of 50%. These forecasts are from IDC's "recent http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13903.html" > Cloud computing forecasts.
IDC mentions two types of private cloud deployment models:
Private private Cloud: This cloud is built on the client-contracted dedicated physical server. The main suppliers of this category are: Amazon EC2 dedicated instance, IBM SmartCloud Enterprise, Savvis Symphony dedicated and Rackspace Cloud Private edition.
Virtual Private Cloud: Similar to public cloud, customers use shared virtual resources, but there are more security options than public cloud. Such vendors are: Amazon Virtualization private Cloud (VPC), IBM smartcloud Enterprise plus, savvis Symphony vpdc/open, and Rackspace Rackconnect.
As companies become increasingly popular with public-sector clouds, the private cloud market is also growing fast. "IDC forecasts that companies are looking to take advantage of the speed and cost advantages of cloud computing and that the virtual private cloud will be the main mode of operation, and suppliers will be happy to deliver business processes, data center outsourcing and other services to the enterprise," said Robert Mahowald, IDC's vice president of SaaS and Cloud services research. ”
On the vendor's cloud strategy, Mahowald said, "in the IT market, even now the biggest leader, if not in the cloud services market leadership, it is difficult to maintain a dominant position, simply, if the supplier failed in the cloud services, it means that the enterprise into stagnation." Suppliers now need to do everything they can to develop a full range of cloud products and business models. ”
