Cervical spondylosis should be a big problem that has plagued many office workers, and we all know that sitting at work for a long time can hurt the kidneys more and more, and I don't know if anyone would think of a different job position: maybe standing up to work will ease some of them. ? but does it really work if you stand? ? will productivity increase as you stand? ? If someone has tried this approach, talk about your experience. The following is a hands-on experience with the co-founder Kael Cho from Crew . The present translation spits down:
In the last few days, I've seen a lot of research reports and reports
in the American Cancer Society study, those who sit every day 6 people over an hour may cause a higher death rate. Another study, more than, says that even people who exercise regularly ( refers to those who exercise more than 5 hours per week , if they sit more than 6 hours a day , it also increases the likelihood of death.
In addition, there is a company study that says that if we stand and work, productivity can increase Calculated .
After seeing these studies, I decided to stand up from my chair and start working. When the company moved, and after moving to the new office, I bought myself a standing table.
Actual effect
It was the first time I'd been standing in my life, and I was sitting on a yoga blanket under the workbench and standing on my bare feet. In 1.5 hours, I felt like I was getting stronger.
After I entered the office the next day, I continued to stand and work. About one hours later, my legs felt tired. My back and shoulders began to get sore, but I still chose to stick to it. Because I think this kind of soreness is a good thing, like when you're working out the muscles in the gym, there will be soreness, but in fact your body is getting stronger. So I kept on standing and working.
About two hours later, I decided to sit down and have a rest. The moment I sat down, I instantly felt that the chair was the greatest invention in the world.
After a rest, I decided to continue to stand up and work. This time, I only persisted for 20 minutes, the whole body's aching feeling I had to sit down again. As I stood, I had to bend my elbows to support the table so that my legs could rest for a while. But after a little while, my arm began to hurt again. The end result was a pain in my leg and my arm.
For the next few hours, I had to start sitting again. At that time, when I saw the standing table again, I felt that it was the last place in the world I wanted to go, and the initial freshness and enthusiasm had vanished.
But I am a person who can insist, I believe, in a few long time, my body will adapt to this intensity, let standing work become a habit. So I chose to stick to it.
After two weeks of exercise, I can now stand and work 4 hours a day. Of course, I need to sit down and rest many times during this process. It's not bad for me to sit down and rest, I've been accustomed to work for a while and take a break from the work rhythm.
However, the problem that really bothers me is that sometimes, when I need to work long hours, fatigue makes me have to stop to rest, disturb my rhythm, and sometimes let my inspiration slip away from me.
In other words, it's hard for me to stand up and work long hours.
The advantage of standing tables is that when I'm working on something that doesn't take too long (like replying to an email), it helps me focus. But when I have to deal with a task for a long time (for example, writing), I am constantly distracted by the fatigue that has caused me to stand up for a long time. At this time, my mind is all about how painful the leg, I need to rest. It made it difficult for me to finish the work smoothly.
From this point of view, standing on the job has not helped me to improve efficiency, but it has become inefficient. So I made a decision to tear down this standing table.
While sitting on the job can affect health, it can at least allow me to finish my work in the shortest possible time. As an entrepreneur, finishing the job is my top priority.
is a chair really a health killer?
Over the past few years, researchers have been saying that sitting for a long time can affect your health. But in fact, sitting does not affect health. Sitting for a long time without exercising will affect your health. In fact, keeping any kind of posture for a long time is unhealthy.
The researchers believe that when we stay up for a long time, our chances of developing cardiovascular disease increase, and our blood circulation slows down, and the body burns fat more slowly.
The function of a standing table is to enable us to move, but it does not actually improve our productivity. In other words, don't expect to stand up for work that will improve your productivity. But if you want to lose weight, you can try it.
How to deal with the health problems caused by sedentary?
Obviously, most of us can't work while running. When you need to sit in the office and work on the computer, you can try these tips:
1. Padded feet
You can put something down at your desk and put your feet up. The good thing about this is that even when you're sitting, it can help you speed up the blood circulation in your legs.
In addition, in the choice of seats, also try to choose those who can adjust the angle of the Chair office. The study points out that when the back of a chair is 135 degrees from the ground, it can reduce the pressure on our backs.
Here's what I'm working on:
2. Squat
The rest of the time to do a few squats, not only can accelerate the blood circulation of the legs, but also allows the body to quickly release the substance of the decomposition of fat. When you wait in front of the coffee machine, you might as well do a few squats.
During the Sochi Winter Olympics, the city is also encouraging people to sit up and exercise. The city held an event, in the railway station ticket hall, if the ticket buyers can do a certain number of squatting activities, you can get free train tickets.
3. Hips Stretching
When I first exercised in the gym, I couldn't even finish squats. My coach told me that my hip muscles are now more important than cans. Why did this happen? The coach told me it was because I was sitting too long and my hips were less athletic than muscle.
If you are like me, you must stretch the muscles of your hips every day to relieve the pain of the lower body due to sedentary. I'm stretching my hip muscles every day for about three minutes.
If you can work long hours and don't feel tired, congratulations. And if you're like me and can't stand up for long hours, don't force yourself, especially if it affects your normal work. Keep in mind that standing for a long time can be detrimental to your health.
The key to staying healthy is to exercise every day. You don't have to run 5 miles a day to get a workout. Taking a walk, climbing the stairs, or doing a few squats can help you become healthier.
