Imperva buys Cloud security company Incapsula

Imperva, an IT corporate security company listed on the NYSE, recently announced acquisitions of new cloud security Gateway company Skyfence and reached an agreement with the Cloud Computing Network application Security company Incapsula to acquire its remaining shares. Imperva also released the Securesphere Network application Firewall (WAF) for Amazon AWS.

Gartner has predicted that spending on global public cloud services will grow from $1.55 trillion in 2014 to $2.1 trillion in 2016. With the rapid spread of the cloud platform, companies will give priority to consolidating and migrating existing systems to cloud computing platforms, including enterprise resource Planning (ERP) and customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. Cloud services are typically used to run important applications and store important business data, but existing security monitoring is mostly designed for out-of-the-set applications, so it does not cover different cloud deployments.

The Imperva Company's strategy is to address security vulnerabilities through cloud deployment models. It uses the Global CDN Awareness application platform to provide customers with DDoS protection, load balancing technology, and fault resolution solutions.

Some enterprise customers prefer the infrastructure-service (IaaS) model and leverage the cloud service provider's economies of scale to reduce costs substantially, while AWS's Securesphere firewall enables these customers to transfer applications while ensuring security. AWS's Securesphere firewall has been partially operational by the end of 2013 and will be widely used since March 2014.
