The music streaming services Spotify has recently developed rapidly in Europe. In the UK alone, Spotify has added more than 1 million active users in the past 4 months, most of them paid subscribers.
Kevin Brown, Europe's head of Spotify, says one important reason for the rapid growth of Spotify's European users is its cooperation with the Vofonda and Sunday Times. According to Spotify's current pace of development, Spotify will overtake itunes in the near future as Europe's biggest music streaming media provider.
Last year, Spotify's active users worldwide were 24 million, paying subscribers 6 million. Brown confidently says Spotify's current number of paid subscribers is about to break the 10 million mark.
Not long ago, Spotify also bought the Echo Nest, the smart Music platform, which provides platform data support for music streaming websites and applications to help them more intelligently filter the music users prefer. There are reports that Spotify will make an IPO this fall.
