Recently, the word innovation is widely seen in the media. Almost 100 years ago, The economist Joseph Schumpeter presented his theory of innovation in 1912 and perfected it in the decades that followed. Today, innovation has become a hot topic, a lot of different sayings, but is generally the essence of Schumpeter's innovative theory of refinement and modernization. Schumpeter is a macro-economic scientist who focuses on the changes of society and economy, so the definition of innovation is also more abstract. He believes that innovation is a production factor to regroup, through the production and management system to create profits. From the microcosmic aspect, there are five ways of innovation, namely product innovation, technology innovation, market innovation, resource allocation innovation and system innovation. We can use Schumpeter's innovative taxonomy to look at recent examples of innovation in the web industry. On product innovation, Facebook and Apple's iphone and ipad are the most lethal product innovations. In technology innovation, Google's search model is exemplary. In the market innovation, Yahoo's display ads, ebay's Consumer-to-consumer mode, Amazon's business model, Google AdSense is a new model of market development. Facebook's social graph model is showing great power in resource allocation innovation. In system innovation, Facebook and Apple's open platform and third-party applications redefine the industry chain of the network industry and become upstream of the industry.

In Schumpeter's eyes, nothing new can be called innovation, and only new things that have a certain quality are innovations. First of all, innovation is original, not can be bought or imported from the outside, but an economic system or enterprise in the process of production and operation endogenous. Second, innovation is a revolution, characterized by suddenness and discontinuity, rather than tinkering with or reinventing the old. Third, innovation is the replacement and destruction of old things, can replace old things with new things, can also use a group of new people to replace the old. This substitution and destruction can happen either within an enterprise or between enterprises. Forth, innovation must create new value. An invention is not innovative, a patent is not innovative, a new method is not innovative. This complete process can be called innovation only when people use these inventions, patents and methods and eventually generate new profits.

Because innovation is so great and so difficult, Schumpeter sees innovation as the fundamental driving force of social change and economic development. Both a country and an enterprise may generate economic growth (substituting) as a result of increased population and users or increased capital, but growth is only a change in volume, without qualitative change, which cannot be called economic development (DEVELOPMENT). Only innovation can bring an economic system or enterprise real growth and qualitative change, bring lasting vitality, bring sustainable and huge excess profits. At the national level, innovation is almost equal to what we often say about reform and opening-up; At the corporate level, innovation means a new play.

Schumpeter proposed the concept of innovation, with clear, profound and rich connotations. After a century of development, innovation theory has been established, with the exact definition and content, not anyone brainwave, can be arbitrarily redefined, expanded and distorted. Of course, as with many of the most important concepts and doctrines of world civilization, they are Chinese when they are introduced. The industry has put forward the concept of micro-innovation, on the positive side, I understand is to break the young people and enterprises on the fear of innovation and encourage people to participate in innovative activities. In a deeper sense, innovation at the beginning may not be so complete, so vigorous, so unstoppable, more likely from little by little start, gradually expand perfect. But if that is true, the innovation doctrine, represented by Schumpeter, has fully stated that there is no need to sporogenous new concepts. But, with my liking for the Esions Do Junzi habit, I very much doubt that some people in the network industry, like the previous paragraph of the platform and open concept of vulgar, is the innovation of vulgarity, castration, time and distort the true meaning of this concept. There is no strict definition of the concept of micro-innovation, but from a variety of descriptions, what product improvement, localization experience, business skills, market trickery, etc., are described as China only, foreign all micro-innovation (also called applied Innovation). So, innovation became a basket, everything into the inside. Unlimited amplification of the concept of innovation, as if everyone can do innovation, everything can be innovative, as long as they can recruit users, income is calculated to be innovative. Push it so logically that there is no innovation in the world.

Innovation can, of course, start from a small place, starting from little by little, from quantitative to qualitative. But, as schumpeter, laughing at the advocates of vulgar innovation, said, the chain of many carriages would never be equal to a train. Innovation is the mission of an entrepreneur (entrepreneur), not an ordinary businessman (businessman) or a professional manager (manager). No matter how small, immature, fragile, and immature, simple and imperfect, the core idea, creativity and logic of an innovation at the outset must be revolutionary, destructive, subversive. A look at the entrepreneurial growth history of innovators such as Google, Facebook and Apple is a testament to Schumpeter's theory of innovation.
