Split the hard drive and format the hard drive

Then came the most difficult and error-splitting hard part of the entire installation GNU process. To install two or more operating systems on the same hard drive and to facilitate the management of different types of data, we must split the hard drive into multiple partitions (Partition). This is just like the same house. If there are two or more lodgers, the owners also need room. Even if there is only one guest, there will be a study room, bedroom, dining room and kitchen.

The difficulty with this work is that most PCs are pre-installed with other operating systems (mostly Microsoft Windows), and the entire hard drive is allocated a pre-installed operating system in the morning. Many non-technical beings have no concept of splitting the hard drive at all, and sometimes damage their original operating system and the information inside without knowing it. However, in fact, only the need for careful treatment, generally there will be no problem.

And the server rarely has the same computer to install two or more operating systems, so the split hard disk work is much simpler than the desktop.

To facilitate the division of the hard disk, http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13835.html ">ubuntu provides several solutions to help you split the hard disk:

* Use the entire disk (using Entrie disks)-This option deletes all partitions on the hard drive and then splits the hard drive again. Do not select this option if you have other operating systems on your hard disk that you want to keep.
* Using an entire disk and using LVM (use Entrie disk and usage LVM)-this scheme deletes all partitions on the hard drive and then partitions the hard drive using LVM. Do not select this option if you have other operating systems on your hard disk that you want to keep.
* Make the largest continuous unused space (using the largest continuous free spaces)-you will see this scheme if your hard disk has enough empty spaces. This scheme will find the longest contiguous vacancy on the hard disk and install Ubuntu on the empty space.
* Manual (Manual)-This program will not help you automatically split, will only allow you to manually split the hard disk.

The way to choose that option is as follows:

* If the data on the hard drive is completely useless, and you decide to have the entire hard drive fully assigned to Ubuntu, use the whole disk (using Entrie disks).
* If the data on the hard disk is still useful, but there is enough space (not less than 3GB), please choose "make the largest continuous unused space" (using the largest continuous free spaces).
* When the above situation is not suitable for you, you can choose to manually (Manual) split the hard disk. Note that the risk of using this method is also greater.

Choose a solution, the installer lists all your hard drives and asks you to split the hard drive:
