March 28 News, according to foreign media reports, Science and Technology blog website VentureBeat learned that Intel will announce the end of the release of its own open source large data processing software Hadoop version, in turn, to support the fast-growing Cloudera version of the Big Digital company Hadoop.
People familiar with the matter reported to the VentureBeat that Intel Capital, its investment agency, would announce a new round of investment in Cloudera and become Cloudera's biggest shareholder. Intel Capital may invest more than 90 million dollars (about 553.2 million yuan) in Cloudera.
Intel and Cloudera have not commented.
Cloudera last week just announced a round of financing of $160 million trillion (about 983.4 million yuan). A week later, Hadoop development company Hortonworks announced a round of $100 million trillion (about 614.7 million yuan) of financing. Last year, another Hadoop development company, Pivotal, received 105 million dollars (about 645.4 million yuan) to finance GE.
Companies are increasingly interested in the scalability and open source features of Hadoop, and the small analyst software vendors that support Hadoop are becoming increasingly popular with investors.
Although the support services for the sale of Hadoop software seem to easily bring real money, Intel's Hadoop version has never been a huge success, especially in the US market. In Cloudera's deliberate market, especially in China, Intel has a close relationship with its manufacturers, and that is why Intel is abandoning its version of Hadoop, which has never been successful globally, in favor of a more popular version of Hadoop.
Intel has been trying to reach a similar deal with a Hadoop company for months, and Intel has approached at least one other Hadoop company before working with Cloudera, the person said.
Bloomberg reported last week that Intel was involved in a new round of cloudera financing. But Intel was not listed as an investor in a statement issued by Cloudera in connection with the 160 million dollar financing.
