Sina Science and technology news Beijing time May 2, Intel Wednesday released the next generation graphics chip iris details. This graphics chip will be used in the fourth generation Intel Core processor Haswell. "The iris graphics chip will provide an exciting visual experience and users no longer need additional graphics cards," Intel said in a statement. Intel says Iris's 3D performance has increased by one-fold compared to the graphics chips in Ivy Bridge, the third-generation U-series and Mobile H-Series Core processor. The U-series and Mobile H-series processors are designed for ultra-high and high-performance notebooks, respectively. Iris's graphics performance increased twice times relative to the graphics chip in the R-series Ivy Bridget processor. R-Series processors are primarily for desktop PCs. Intel says the Mobile H-series and R-Series Iris graphics chips will use high-speed edram enclosures. With the quick Sync video and mjpeg acceleration Technology, the IRIS chip will provide faster performance for both visual and photo editing. The chip will also support 4K Ultra HD resolution, as well as the OpenCL and DirectX 11.1 APIs (Application interface). Intel is expected to release the Haswell processor at the Taipei International Computer Show this June. (D-Gold)
