"I'm going to show you something that came straight out of the lab," said Kirk Skaugen, vice President and PC Client Division of Intel Corporation Schhode. "The power consumption of HASWELL-Y chips is 6 watts and 4.5 watts," Schhode said. This 14-nanometer processor chip can be used in two different devices. The first application is to plug into an existing computer. The second application is for a wide range of new computers with no fan design. In the demo, Intel demonstrated the Cinebench processor benchmark test for laptops based on broadwell-y chips. The test results show that the BROADWELL-Y chip has a 30% higher performance than the existing chip. Given that the Broadwell microarchitecture has more advantages over current chips in terms of supporting new directives, its performance is better in selective applications.
