International Day for the elimination of domestic violence, the United Nations "invites you to join, say no" art exhibition held in Peru

Lima, November 23 (Xinhua guoying reporter Zhaoyugong) to commemorate the "International Day for the Elimination of domestic violence" (also known as "International Day for the Elimination of violence against Women"), the theme of "Please join, say no" of the art exhibition 23rd in Lima in the United Nations Office in Peru held.

16 Peruvian literary and artistic workers used paintings, sculptures, photographic pictures, films and other forms to show the tragic situation of violence against women. Many works impress the visitors. One of the women's evening dresses, made of onion skins, looks elegant and fragile. Because onions make people cry, this work is named "Tears For Women".

An artist placed 77 women's left-footed shoes in the center of the pavilion, next to the commentary, "Where is the right (shoe)", meaning "where is the right?" "To show the loss of women's rights, because in Spanish" right "and" right "is the same word.

On the lawn outside the hall stood 52 pink crosses, each writing the story of a Peruvian woman who died of violence in 2011.

More than 100 officials from the United Nations Office in Peru, foreign envoys in Peru and exhibiting artists attended the opening ceremony of the day and jointly watched a film on women's domestic violence. Later, some artists explained their exhibits to the visitors on the spot. The exhibition, which lasts until 25th, is open to the public free of charge.

Violence against Peruvian women has been widespread. According to the Peruvian Ministry of Women and Social development, Peru averaged 12 women each month killed by their partners, and 68% of women were subjected to varying levels of domestic violence.

In December 1999, the General Assembly of the United Nations formally adopted a resolution to set the annual November 25 as the "International Day for the Elimination of domestic violence".
