Japanese citizens ' groups calling for the elimination of Racial Discrimination are meeting in front of the Senate Chamber of Nagatacho in Tokyo this month 18th, Japanese media reported. The participants described the status quo of racial discrimination against Korean people in Japan and called for the government to improve the rule of law and curb it.
It is reported that the meeting, held before the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21st of this month, was hosted by the NGO Network on racial discrimination, with a total of about 130 participants, including the embassies and consulates of 13 countries in the United States and South Africa.
It is understood that the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination issued a "final opinion" in August 2014 on the hate speech of Japanese society and called on the Government of Japan to take appropriate measures. But according to Gangkang, the country's attorney for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, "the government has not carried out the status investigation as requested by the Commission and has not advanced legislation to curb it".
