iOS fell to 67% in corporate market share in the second quarter of 2014

In the second quarter of 2014, Apple (95.97,-0.02,-0.02%) iOS remained in the lead in the corporate market, accounting for 67% of the total device activation, down 5%, according to the latest mobile index report released by Marvell, a market research firm. The Marvell data also showed that Android devices accounted for 32% of total device activation in the second quarter, up about 5% per cent. The share of Windows phone is still flat, about 1%, from 5 quarters ago. The report does not provide data on BlackBerry (9.41,-0.11,-1.10%) handsets. So if BlackBerry is not considered, then iOS's share of the corporate market has reached 2/3, while Android's 1/3,windows phone is only a marginal product. It is clear that Microsoft (43.52,0.32,0.74%) has a lot of work to do in this area. A further breakdown of the data reveals that Android smartphones accounted for 30% of the total device activation in the second quarter, up 4% per cent on a month-on-month basis, the biggest increase ever. The share of iOS smartphones was flat, at 51%, while the share of iOS tablet computers fell slightly, to 16%. Document editing applications are still the most widely used application type in all enterprise applications. Secure Instant messaging applications are more than custom applications, becoming the second most active number of application types. Other key messages from the report include:-The total number of enterprise application activations still shows double-digit growth, with a quarter-on-quarter increase of 20% per cent. -The number of activations in tablet applications and smartphone applications has been significantly different in the previous quarter, but the gap is shrinking in the second quarter, accounting for 58% and 42% respectively. -The total number of ipad activations in government and utility companies has increased by 5%. The report of the Marvell keeps track of the number of activations on each mobile platform and device. This data comes from all the equipment of the company's more than 5,000 customers worldwide.
