IPhone, ipad boost wireless device chip sales

Sina Science and technology news Beijing time of August 13, the market research agency IHS ISuppli August 11 released a report that thanks to the demand for smartphones and tablets, manufacturers use more chips on wireless devices than on traditional PCs.　　The IHS report shows that manufacturers will buy 55.4 billion chips this year, an increase of 10.7% this year, the computer chips will reach 53.1 billion, an increase of 1.2% per cent year-on-year. Wenlie Ye, an analyst at IHS Semiconductor Industry, said Apple's iphone smartphone and ipad tablet computers led the growth in demand for smartphones and tablets.　　Apple last year became the world's biggest buyer of OEM chips, thanks to demand for iphone smartphones and ipad Tablet PCs.　　IHS said that 61% of Apple's 2010-year chip budget was for mobile devices, while HP used 82% of its chip budget for desktops, laptops and servers.
