Iron Kings, an American company focused on storage backup and data security, has a secret database of security levels behind the White House and the Pentagon, about 66 meters underground, claiming to be one of the safest places on earth.
Iron Mountain Company's data center is huge and needs to be driven into
Iron Mountain Company Underground Database area of 145 hectares, like lime caves composed of a maze. In 110 basements, the size of a football field, they store confidential information from government agencies and corporate companies. Here are the wreckage of United Airlines Flight 93rd, which crashed in the "911" incident, and precious materials such as the original record of cat Wang Plesli, the photo of Einstein's tongue.
Data center located in underground cave kiln
A lot of data/information is converted from paper to digital every day.
Recently, Iron Mountain Company has built a unique data center in the U.S. West Pennsylvania area, located in a local underground man-made lime cave kiln in the 48th Cave.
The data center uses a unique server cooling system, which is connected to a limestone wall in a data center using a vent pipe, which cools the server with the low temperature of the ground limestone, and is said to have a heat dissipation rate of 1.5 inch units per square inch.
The air conditioning system used in the data center takes full advantage of the local natural environment of the cave kiln, which extracts cooling water from hundreds of acres of underground wells to provide cooling water to the server.
The design staff set the air temperature of the air conditioning system in the data center (from the air conditioning room for the Return air treatment unit) to 75 degrees, compared with the conventional data center of Iron Mountain Company, the energy consumption of the cooling system is lower than percent, and the return air temperature of these conventional data centers needs to be set at 70-72 degrees.
The power density of the data centers is also higher than the rest of the underground kilns, but the data centers that do not use groundwater cooling are taller, and the power densities of these ordinary data centers are only 125w/square feet, while the data center, which uses groundwater cooling, has been elevated to 150w/square feet.
Iron Mountain Company in the world hosted 10 billion e-mail, the rate of daily included 8 million increments. In this underground database, 20,000 servers and 400,000 computers make data backups every day.
Air conditioning and ventilation system
The
Iron Mountain Company's data center skillfully uses the underground low temperature and the underground water to carry on the heat dissipation, the effect is far better than the same type traditional data center, the heat radiates to the underground, reduces the heat energy emission effectively, the creativity and the design are very practical.
