Beijing time December 8 Evening News, Japan's antitrust regulators in Wednesday to mobile gaming website operator Dena launched an investigation. Sources say Dena forced game developers to pull down games on rival sites. The Japan Fair Trade Commission said it had started an investigation at Dena's Tokyo headquarters in the morning of Wednesday. In terms of revenue, Dena is Japan's largest mobile gaming platform. A person familiar with the matter said the regulator suspected Dena of pressuring game developers to remove the game from rival Gree's website. Dena's "Mobage Town" mobile Web site integrates the functions of social networking sites and Internet portals, which currently has more than 20 million users. The site is also a free video gaming platform. From April to September this year, Dena's revenue reached 3 times times the same period last year, to 51.28 billion yen, while net profit reached 4 times times the same period last year, to 14.17 billion yen. Dena announced in October this year to buy US mobile game developer Ngmoco for 403 million dollars, a news that has aroused global media attention. A spokesman for the Dena confirmed that the Japan Fair Trade Commission had launched an investigation into the company but declined to comment further on the incident. Japan's Fair Trade Commission said the investigation could last for months or even a year before drawing a conclusion as to whether Dena violated the anti-monopoly law. (Hui)
